5 Reasons I Love Black Friday

Y’all, there’s nothing like Black Friday. Seriously. I dare you to try to compare it to something else. It’s like, the most grandest disaster of a “holiday” to come to existence and despite nearly everyone on the planet having the Internet, it maintains popularity.
If I’m being honest, I don’t really get it. I was never one of those people to get up at 3 a.m. and drive 2 hours to go to Target and the mall, but I watched many family members do just that. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve gone in and out of enjoying it, but I’m excited about it again this year and wanted to share my reasons.
People Watching. I don’t really love in-person shopping. Malls, stores… Walmart… I have actually gotten so bad about this that I buy a lot of my groceries on Amazon. Don’t judge. BUT. The people watching on Black Friday is unlike any people watching at any other time of the year. Except maybe at the circus.
There’s no need to eat. You don’t really get hungry on Black Friday because you consumed enough food the day before to feed the average human for a week, so walking around is actually a great idea. And you can always bring along a zip-lock bag of turkey in your purse just incase. You know you’re going to be eating that for the next week anyway.
You find things you never knew you needed. Have you ever noticed this? Like, Kohl’s and Macy’s are always great about this. Wooden extendable back scratcher? Why yes, my back is a little itchy in this wool sweater right now actually. A digital change counter? Uh, yeah! This has got nothing on just taking it to the bank and having them do it! Coffee mug that plugs into the USB port in the car? Well of course! Why didn’t I have one of these before!
Duh, sales. Because everything’s on sale. Want the mannequin AND the outfit? Sure, we’ll sell that for 30% off today. It’s Black Friday!
Decorating for Christmas. Truly, this is the biggest reason I love Black Friday. I host Thanksgiving every year, so I have a hard limit of decorating for Christmas before the end of that magical Turkey Thursday. By the end of the day on Black Friday, my tree is up and the house just seems magical and peaceful.
If you’re going out and about Friday, good luck! And be kind and turn your iPhone horizontal when you take video of people fighting before you post it on social media. It’s just the considerate thing to do.
