Thrive in '25

Oh hey. How ya been? 😜

It's been a minute.

I decided that one of my 2025 goals would be to revive this blog.

You may remember a few years ago that I had what I called The Thrive Project. Well, I was terrible about documenting it, but a lot of the challenges I put myself through were habits or activities that stuck, even long after I stopped documenting them.

In year's past, I've done the whole word of the year thing, set resolutions, set SMART goals... but honestly, I'm kind of over all of that. Goals are important, but I think we spend a lot of time being so rigid and so hard on ourselves. This year, I'm just feeling more like I want to be in a flow.

Now, I did set some goals and my favorite planner requires me to set them weekly, so let's dive into that.

I actually created this as a background for my phone for the month of January:

I like this because I see it frequently throughout the day.

Here is a page from the planner I use:

I love this planner because it's not dated, so I usually start a new one right after Christmas. There are monthly calendars and daily. Check them out here: https://amzn.to/4gVF3Br I prefer the Pro version.

Okay, back to goals. Truly, the easiest one of these so far has been the No Alcohol. I've done "Dry January" in the past, but this year, I'm really committed to limiting alcohol overall. Sleep is a huge priority for me, and eliminating alcohol has drastically improved my REM and deep sleep this month. The one that I thought would be the easiest - 10k steps daily + 3 days of strength training - is basically going nowhere.

One of the biggest things, I think, when we set goals, is that it's not all or nothing. My plan is that anything that continues to be difficult will either be taken off my goals for February or will just continue. And then I'll add some new things to work on.

I think this is really a Thrive Project. I want this year to be as fun, relaxed and enjoyable as possible. Who's with me? What are you working on that will help you Thrive in '25?
